46th HCNB PPE Meeting Held in Brussels

The 46th HCNB Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) meeting, held in Brussels on December 17-18, 2024, brought together industry representatives from across Europe. At the meeting, important issues such as the safety of personal protective equipment, compliance with standards and future regulations were discussed.

In the closed sessions, the group work on “Module C2/D” was particularly noteworthy. In these sessions, topics such as remote sampling processes of Module C2, production continuity, reducing the burden on economic operators and assessing implementation risks were discussed. In addition, the RfU (Recommendation for Use) drafts proposed at the meeting were shaped in line with the common views of the participants.

Other important agenda items of the meeting included evaluations on PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) from an environmental sustainability perspective. Detailed analyzes were carried out on the risks posed by PFAS-containing materials in production processes and alternatives to these substances. The importance of compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable production processes was emphasized.

In the plenary sessions, topics such as Module D processes, general product safety regulation (Regulation EU 2023/988), category changes of protective equipment against molten metal risk and other compliance processes were discussed. The meeting aimed to increase information sharing among industry stakeholders and create a harmonized working environment.
