The European Accreditation Association (EA) has officially launched the EA MLA Mark as of September 1, 2025. This new mark aims to increase the recognition of accreditation across Europe and make the reliability of conformity assessment documents more visible. The EA MLA Mark can only be used for activities covered by the EA Multilateral Agreement (MLA) and will appear alongside national accreditation bodies’ (NABs) own marks.
The use of the new mark is regulated by EA-3/01 M:2025 and supplementary document EA-3/01 S1 published by the EA. These regulations clarify the conditions under which the mark can be used and by whom. Conformity assessment bodies (CABs) will only be able to use the mark for activities for which they are accredited and which are covered by the NAB’s MLA.
As a collective mark registered at European Union and international level, the EA MLA Mark stands for technical competence, impartiality and reliability. This is an important step towards facilitating cross-border trade by increasing the transparency of the conformity assessment system in Europe.
