The European Commission took an important step forward on consumer guarantees by adopting Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2025/1960 on October 2, 2025. This regulation aims to provide consumers with a clearer understanding of their rights and promote sustainable consumption by introducing harmonized formats for warranty notices and labels across the EU.
From September 27, 2026, under the new rules, consumers will be able to clearly see that they are entitled to at least a two-year statutory warranty on the products they buy. This information will be provided in a standardized warranty notice. In addition, manufacturers will be able to use a new label to voluntarily emphasize product durability. The label will include the approval mark, the warranty period (in years), a QR code leading to detailed information and the multilingual phrase “manufacturer’s warranty (years)”. This is an important step in line with the EU’s goals of strengthening consumer rights and promoting environmentally friendly consumption habits.
